Senate approves Home Buyer Credit extension 3 more months

I have yet to find a local newspaper, TV station or other news source already reporting this…

And I checked: OrlandoSentinel.com
Floridatoday.com
Local6.com
Foxnews.com
CNN.com…
well thats where I almost stopped, until I found it here:

The local Orlando Regional Realtor Association did release an email just before midnight on 6/30 stating:

Extension of the 8k Tax Credit and National Flood Insurance Program
After a close brush with the deadline, Congress has passed an extension of the Homebuyer Tax Credit closing deadline,
the Homebuyer Assistance and Improvement Act (H.R. 5623). The extension applies only to transactions that have ratified
contracts in place as of April 30, 2010 that have not yet closed.  The legislation is designed to create a seamless extension
the new closing deadline for eligible transactions is now September 30, 2010.
There is will be no gap between June 30 and the date the President signs the bill into law.

Not a minute too soon and almost a few minutes to late, but I know quite a few people who will be very happy about this. And I imagine a few people will be happy to read the news in the morning, provided the news stations find the time to actually report it…

Pretty good chance that Mary Shanklin will be reporting it sometime tomorrow, and for those not familiar with her, visit the link to her twitter profile and begin watching what she writes. She does a pretty good job of fair & informational reporting, giving Beth Kassab a run for her money!

Now if we could just get the banks to move the process through in a timely & efficient manner we could all celebrate!
