Lake Sybelia Elementary School History and Information: Lake Sybelia Elementary School was established in 1967 and has been serving students in the Maitland community ever since. The school is home to the district’s Hearing Impaired program and serves Deaf and Hard of Hearing students from age 3 through 5th grade. This program plus the different ethnicities of the students in kindergarten through grade 5 make Lake Sybelia a diverse and unique learning community. The administration and staff are comprised of dedicated, hardworking, creative people whose love of children is apparent in everything they do. Parents are always welcome at Lake Sybelia and many of them volunteer their time to assist the teachers in their quest for excellence. Through the cooperation of parents, teachers, administrators and children, Lake Sybelia Elementary School is truly one of Florida’s finest. Lake Sybelia strives to be a learning community in which committed educators present a balanced and diversified curriculum in an orderly and inviting environment. Curriculum, instruction, and assessment are guided by specific and challenging goals which are aligned from grade to grade. The academic progress of each student is closely monitored by educators who have a commitment to the students’ continuous improvement. To ensure high achievement, positive self-esteem, and responsible citizenship, we maximize instructional time, form partnerships with the community, encourage responsible choices, and incorporate instructional discipline. The effectiveness of this learning community is demonstrated through the achievement, character, and conduct of its students.
