Windermere Elementary School History and Information: Windermere Elementary School was established among the lakes and citrus groves of West Orange County in 1889. It was relocated to Main Street in 1910 to a building that now houses the Windermere Police Station and various small businesses. The present two-level structure was built on 15 acres at 1125 Park Avenue in 1967. In 2005 Windermere underwent a comprehensive construction project. The construction included new buildings totaling 41, 407 square feet as well as a renovation of the original building and expansion of the cafeteria. Windermere Elementary is a friendly school in a safe, secure, healthy learning community where expectations for academic success, mutual respect, and personal responsibility are high and each person is supported in meeting or exceeding those expectations. Windermere has been awarded a school grade of “A” by the Florida Department of Education for the past 4 years.
